Respiratory Illness Report: Week 9 (3/1/2026-3/7/2026)

In week ending March 7, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained elevated, while indicators for COVID-19 remained low. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A, RSV, and influenza B among clinical respiratory specimens.
3.1% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 were attributable to COVID-19 or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 110 positive influenza tests (97 influenza A, 13 influenza B; 14.4% of specimens tested), eight positive COVID-19 tests (1.1% of specimens tested), and 12 positive RSV tests (6.1% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been three influenza outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no COVID-19 outbreaks.
