Leadership

Kitsap Public Health District has protected the health of our county’s residents since 1947. A 10-member Public Health Board, composed of elected officials and community representatives, is our governing body.

     

Our executive leadership team, listed below, directs our team of professional and support professionals totaling more than 100 full and part time positions.

Accreditation

Kitsap Public Health District has been accredited by the national Public Health Accreditation Board since 2015. 

This designation means our Health District has met rigorous quality standards and measures as a high-performing public health agency and is committed to continuous innovation and improvement. 

Kitsap Public Health District receives a mix of local, state, and federal money to provide services that keep Kitsap County residents safe and healthy. View current and past budgets below for full details on revenue and spending.

 

The Kitsap Public Health Board approves the Health District's budget. The Health District's finances are reviewed each year by the Washington State Auditor's Office. Budgets and audit reports are posted below. 

Kitsap Public Health District (KPHD) adheres to all applicable local, state, and federal non-discrimination laws, including the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Affordable Care Act Section 1557, Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 49.60 Discrimination – Human Rights Commission, and other relevant non-discrimination statutes.

We are dedicated to making sure everyone is treated fairly and equally. KPHD prohibits discrimination in all programs, services, and contracts based on disability, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, pregnancy outcomes, religion or creed, race, ancestry, veteran or military status, breast/chest feeding in public, or using a service animal in public places.

Free Aids and Services

 

KPHD provides free aids and services to people with disabilities to communicate effectively with us, such as:

  • Qualified sign language interpreters

  • Written information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, other formats)

 

KPHD also provides free language services to people whose primary language is not English, such as:

  • Qualified interpreters

  • Information written in other languages

Discrimination Complaints

 

If you believe KPHD has failed to provide these services or has engaged in discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, or any other protected class, you may file a complaint with the Civil Rights & ADA Coordinator within  180 days of the incident.

 

Complaints may be submitted by email, mail, in person, or by phone:

 

Once a complaint is received, KPHD will reach out to the complainant within 15 calendar days to discuss the issue. Before opening an investigation, KPHD will review the complaint to determine whether it falls within its scope and authority.


If KPHD opens an investigation, we will review all relevant evidence, interview witnesses, and consult with necessary experts to determine the appropriate course of action and potential resolutions. The outcome of the investigation will be provided in writing, including a summary of the findings, a determination of whether discrimination occurred, and any proposed remedies, if applicable.

Established in 1947, the Kitsap Public Health District is a local government entity serving all of Kitsap County and its cities. 

As your local public health agency, we work to prevent disease and injuries, promote health and wellbeing, and create safe and supportive environments where everyone can thrive.

The Health District is organized into four divisions: Administrative Services, Community Health, Environmental Health, and Public Health Infrastructure. Programs within these divisions provide vital public health services for our community.
