In week ending Feb. 28, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained elevated, but showed continued signs of decreasing. Indicators for COVID-19 remained low. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A and RSV among clinical respiratory specimens.
3.4% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 were attributable to COVID-19 or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported nine positive COVID-19 tests (1.2% of specimens tested), 99 positive influenza tests (94 influenza A, five influenza B; 12.5% of specimens tested), and 13 positive RSV tests (6.5% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been two influenza outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no COVID-19 outbreaks.
