In week ending Dec. 20, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) were elevated and increasing, while indicators for COVID-19 remained minimal.
Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A and RSV among clinical respiratory specimens, followed by rhinovirus.
1.2% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19 or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 7 positive COVID-19 tests (1.3% of specimens tested), 68 positive influenza tests (65 influenza A, 3 influenza B; 12.0% of specimens tested), and 12 positive RSV tests (8.1% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients. At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there has been one influenza outbreak reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no COVID-19 outbreaks.
