In week ending Feb. 7, local indicators for influenza remained high, while indicators for COVID-19 remained minimal. Indicators for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained elevated in Kitsap County and in other Puget Sound jurisdictions. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A and RSV among clinical respiratory specimens.
3.7% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 were attributable to COVID-19 or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 10 positive COVID-19 tests (1.4% of specimens tested), 129 positive influenza tests (125 influenza A, four influenza B; 17.5% of specimens tested), and 21 positive RSV tests (11.1% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been two COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks and one influenza outbreak.
