In week ending October 4, local indicators for COVID-19 were elevated, but hospitalizations remained low. Local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained minimal. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected rhinovirus and COVID-19 among clinical respiratory specimens. We are returning to weekly reporting in preparation for seasonal respiratory activity.

1.1% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, and there were no visits were attributable to either influenza or to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 36 positive COVID-19 tests (8.9% of specimens tested), 3 positive influenza tests (0 influenza A, 3 influenza B; 0.9% of specimens tested), and 1 positive RSV test (1.5% of specimens tested).

On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been two COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
