In week ending Jan. 31, local indicators for influenza remained high, while indicators for COVID-19 remained minimal. Indicators for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained elevated in Kitsap County and in other Puget Sound jurisdictions. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A and RSV among clinical respiratory specimens.
3.9% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 were attributable to COVID-19 or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported four positive COVID-19 test (1.3% of specimens tested), 150 positive influenza tests (147 influenza A, three influenza B; 22.6% of specimens tested), and 26 positive RSV tests (15.0% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been two COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks and one influenza outbreak.
