In week ending September 20, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained minimal. Local indicators for COVID-19 were elevated, but hospitalizations remained low.  Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected rhinovirus and COVID-19 among clinical respiratory specimens.


1.4% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, fewer than 10 visits were attributable to influenza, and 0 visits were attributable to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 48 positive COVID-19 tests (11.0% of specimens tested), 3 positive influenza tests (2 influenza A, 1 influenza B; 0.9% of specimens tested), and 0 positive RSV tests (0.0% of specimens tested).


On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.


At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there has been one COVID-19 outbreak reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
