In week ending Aug. 23, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained minimal. Local indicators for COVID-19 were elevated, while hospitalizations remained low. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected COVID-19 among clinical respiratory specimens. Kitsap County continues to see pertussis activity in the community.

1.1% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, and no visits were attributable to influenza or to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 48 positive COVID-19 tests (14.9% of specimens tested), 3 positive influenza tests (2 influenza A, 1 influenza B; 1.3% of specimens tested), and 1 positive RSV tests (0.9% of specimens tested).

On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been three COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
