In week ending July 26, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained minimal. Sentinel laboratory surveillance reported a relatively high proportion of specimens positive for COVID-19, but indicators of severe illness (emergency department visits and hospitalizations) remained minimal-to-low. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected COVID-19 among clinical respiratory specimens. Kitsap County continues to see pertussis activity in the community.
0.9% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, and fewer than 10 visits were attributable to influenza or to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 44 positive COVID-19 tests (16.8% of specimens tested), 3 positive influenza tests (2 influenza A, 1 influenza B; 1.4% of specimens tested), and 0 positive RSV tests (0.0% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been two COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
