In week ending May 2, local indicators for influenza continued to decline toward baseline levels, while indicators for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and COVID-19 were minimal. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected rhinovirus and influenza B among clinical respiratory specimens.
0.5% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 were attributable to RSV or to COVID-19. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 28 positive influenza tests (five influenza A, 23 influenza B; 7.1% of specimens tested), five positive RSV tests (5.0% of specimens tested), and five positive COVID-19 tests (1.2% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been two influenza outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no COVID-19 outbreaks.
