In week ending April 25, local indicators for influenza continued to decline toward baseline levels, while indicators for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and COVID-19 were minimal. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza B and rhinovirus among clinical respiratory specimens.
1.5% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, fewer than 10 were attributable to RSV, and none were attributable to COVID-19. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 43 positive influenza tests (eight influenza A, 35 influenza B; 8.7% of specimens tested), one positive RSV tests (0.9% of specimens tested), and two positive COVID-19 tests (0.4% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been three influenza outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no COVID-19 outbreaks.
