In week ending April 18, local indicators for influenza remained elevated, while indicators for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) declined toward baseline levels, and indicators for COVID-19 remained minimal. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza B, rhinovirus, and RSV among clinical respiratory specimens.
2.1% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 were attributable to COVID-19 or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 65 positive influenza tests (14 influenza A, 51 influenza B; 12.3% of specimens tested), three positive RSV tests (2.4% of specimens tested), and three positive COVID-19 tests (0.6% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been three influenza outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no COVID-19 outbreaks.
