In week ending March 28, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained elevated, while indicators for COVID-19 remained low. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza B, RSV, and rhinovirus among clinical respiratory specimens.
2.3% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 were attributable to COVID-19 or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 84 positive influenza tests (29 influenza A, 55 influenza B; 13.3% of specimens tested), 13 positive RSV tests (7.6% of specimens tested), and 10 positive COVID-19 tests (1.6% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there has been one influenza outbreak reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no COVID-19 outbreaks.
