In week ending March 21, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained elevated, while indicators for COVID-19 remained low. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza B, RSV, and influenza A among clinical respiratory specimens.
2.2% of emergency department visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 were attributable to COVID-19 or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 91 positive influenza tests (54 influenza A, 37 influenza B; 13.3% of specimens tested), 16 positive RSV tests (9.8% of specimens tested), and six positive COVID-19 tests (0.9% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there has been one influenza outbreak reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no COVID-19 outbreaks.
