In week ending Dec. 13, local clinical laboratory testing showed increasing detections of influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), but emergency department visits and hospitalizations remained low. Local indicators for COVID-19 remained minimal. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A and RSV among clinical respiratory specimens, followed by rhinovirus.
Fewer than 10 emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, influenza, or to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported seven positive COVID-19 tests (1.3% of specimens tested), 53 positive influenza tests (49 influenza A, four influenza B; 9.6% of specimens tested), and nine positive RSV tests (8.2% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been no COVID-19 or influenza outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks.
