Respiratory Illness Report: Week 40 (10/4/2026 - 10/10/2026)
In week ending Oct. 10, local indicators for influenza and COVID-19 were elevated, while indicators for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained minimal. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A, rhinovirus, and SARS-CoV-2 among clinical respiratory specimens.
1.5% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to influenza, 0.7% were attributable to COVID-19, and zero visits were attributable to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 61 positive influenza tests (59 influenza A, two influenza B; 9.5% of specimens tested), one positive RSV test (0.7% of specimens tested), and 48 positive COVID-19 tests (8.7% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been three COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and two influenza outbreaks.
