KITSAP COUNTY, WA – Kitsap County residents can now access same-day telehealth appointments for opioid use disorder treatment through the Washington Buprenorphine Hotline (206-289-0287).

The program, which started as a partnership between Public Health - Seattle & King County and the University of Washington, is now open statewide to everyone ages 13 and older.

The hotline connects the caller to a healthcare provider who is trained in addiction medicine and can prescribe buprenorphine, a medicine that lessens withdrawal symptoms and helps people recover from opioid use disorder. After the appointment, a care coordinator will help the caller create a longer-term care plan.

“I’m thrilled that this important service is expanding to serve Kitsap and our entire state,” interim Kitsap Public Health District Health Officer Dr. Herbie Duber said. “Making buprenorphine more accessible to more people will help save lives and build pathways to recovery.”

Washington’s Telebuprenorphine Hotline is available every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The service is free and does not bill insurance.
