KITSAP COUNTY, WA — The Kitsap Public Health Board welcomed Port Orchard resident Paisley Gallagher as its newest nonelected member during the Board's Nov. 3 meeting.

Gallagher was one of several community members who applied for nonelected positions on the Health Board during an open application period last summer. The Board's Personnel Committee reviewed applicants and interviewed finalists in August.

The Health Board nominated Gallagher for the Consumers of Public Health position to replace outgoing Board member Drayton Jackson. Dr. Tara Sell was nominated for reappointment to the Other Community Stakeholders position, which she has held since 2022.

The Kitsap Board of County Commissioners approved both appointments in September.

About Paisley Gallagher

Paisley Gallagher is the sustainable living and development coordinator for Washington State University Extension and a community educator with more than a decade of community engagement experience.

Gallagher brings a deeply personal understanding of many of the public and community systems as a neurodivergent woman with partial blindness, and through her experience navigating recovery from substance use disorder, economic hardship, education, housing, transportation, healthcare, and other support systems.

Gallagher's professional and lived experiences inform her approach to community service, with an emphasis on accessibility, practical resources, and connecting people and organizations to help address community needs.

About the Kitsap Public Health Board

The 10-member Health Board is composed of five elected officials (one county commissioner and elected officials from the cities of Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Port Orchard and Poulsbo), representatives from the Port Gamble and Suquamish tribes, and three nonelected members representing consumers of public health, public health stakeholders, and public health and healthcare facilities and providers.
